AfricaGovernment Intensifies Evacuation of Ugandans Stranded in South Africa
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo has informed Parliament that 880 Ugandans have been evacuated from South Africa, with 250 more arriving following xenophobic attacks that killed three citizens. While Opposition MP Joan Alobo demanded financial compensation for the returnees' lost businesses, Minister Kasolo explained that the evacuees are receiving trauma therapy at NALI Kyankwanzi while awaiting an audience with President Museveni.
NationalGovernment Gives Shs 10 Million to Each Family of Ugandans Killed in South Africa
The Government of Uganda has delivered Shs 10 million in financial support to each of the three families of Ugandan citizens killed in the South Africa xenophobic attacks. Handed over by Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune on behalf of President Museveni, the intervention also covered full body repatriation costs and placement into the Parish Development Model for survivors.
